roadkill

today i killed a squirrel with my bike. it was an accident. i was going about 30mph down a hill, and startled 2 squirrels as i came around a bend. one ran directly between my wheels. my bike and i became airborne, and the poor squirrel never knew what hit her. not sure of the mechanics, but it was violent - there was hair stuck in my front fork, front wheel, front derailleur, big ring, chain, and rear wheel, and the chain came off (skipped 2 rings). her tail was ripped in half, and the half that came off was ripped in half. i think her back and neck were broken, so at least she perished quickly - by the time i skidded to a stop, she was dead. i apologized repeatedly and rolled her off the road. oh well.
