protest

there have been big protests in town this week, while hu jintao was visiting. yesterday was a very large and colorful protest in front of the white house, and the fuzz had areas gated off (which caused me extra walking on the way to my meeting). the falun gong practitioners/supporters (what's the right word for members of a non-religious non-cult?) were handing out a lot of literature. the stuff i got said that the chinese government is punishing the falun gong by 1) arresting them, 2) harvesting their organs, and 3)THEN torturing them to death.

the allegations are very horrible, and somewhat substantiated (although not addressed by the us gov't), and i do NOT intend to make light of them. but the order of numbers 2 and 3 makes me wonder if the chinese government isn't just afraid of the falung gong because of their magical powers that allow them to survive the harvesting of their organs by prison doctors in order to be tortured to death later.
