girls
hey there, all-the-young-girls-in-DC! i know you read this space, and i have something to talk to you about: don't make a big deal about offering your metro seat to a man who is a) having no apparent trouble moving, and b) anywhere younger than 90. got that? in the past few days, i've TWICE seen girls get up and draw attention to 65-75 year old men. any reasonably able-bodied man that age would sooner wear a frilly pink dress on the metro than take a seat from an early-20's girl, so shut up and sit back down. if you want to give up your seat, make eye contact as they enter, and then g.t.f. up, quietly, so they can take the seat they know you're giving them. but DON'T wait until everyone is settled to stand up and loudly say "SIR, WOULD YOU LIKE TO SIT?". it embarrasses me both for the men and for the girls. gosh!
