busy night
when b was here visiting, he always complained that my life was boring. "i thought you went out all the time, and did big-city things and partied," he'd say. i tried to explain to him that a girl sometimes has work to do, that the parties and the evening events come in cycles. this week, i'm lucky to be on an upswing, because my office building is STILL closed from the flood, and working at home for more than 1 day is stir-crazifying (i'm headed into day 3).
last night, after computing from the couch all day, i had a private happy hour with my friend e to plan for a couple of upcoming events she and i have in the works (i'll tell you later - secrets!). TONIGHT i was very busy. first a science-art opening (was it j that wanted a geek-out contest? i would totally win). next, a book reading by my friend, who wrote a book about whales. finally, i went to see SPAMALOT! e has an old friend in the traveling show, and got us tickets in the very center of row j. we had to pay, but it was worth it. afterwards, we met e's friend by the stage door, and we saw all the cast members come out in their shorts and t-shirts, largely unrecognizable but that we were staring at them. we (could have) hung out with the cast and partied all night.
