short weekend

the weekend went by too quickly. but i got a few things accomplished. number one: i got a new plant! i had seen these guys at the greenhouse a few months ago and fell in love. i can never buy things right away, though, so had to wait. (plus, i had a coupon for july) he is a peperomia variety called "jayde". big, thick, shiny heart-shaped leaves.

also, i finally fixed my always-running toilet. it was easy. all i had to do was go to the hardware store, ask the teenager a few simple questions, get no useful information from the teenager, make a decision myself, come home, flush and turn off the valve, scoop/sponge the rest of the water out of the tank, wonder what the black greasy stuff was, begin removing old valve head, call s to see if she had big pliers, wait until s arrived, continue removing old valve head with two people, succeed, break for dinner with s, come back, figure out how to install the new bits myself because the instructions were useless, watch raptly through 2-3 flush cycles, put lid back on tank. wee.
