the academy finally set a date for the announcement of this year's nobel in literature: thursday. mark your calendars. i predict male, non-dominant language. does orhan pamuk have a chance?
also, i got some vindication for my dismay over the 2004 prize.

who's up this year: JD Salinger, Achebe, Pynchon, Ballard, Seth, Atwood. The winner will be Ishiguro. yeah, okay, all these are too mainstream. Couldn't think of alot of women off the top of my head but don't know if they'd do women two years in a row. That'd be too much wouldn't it?
Oh yeah, The Sea won the Booker today; wouldn't have guessed that.
