update

i was supposed to be making this wiaree to keep the kids back in the heartland updated on my big exciting life in the big city. my big, exciting life in the city is pretty big and exciting - but i never have any idea what to write about. i don't want to write about work, and that's mostly what i've been up to. wooie! anyway, here are some little things i can remember from recently:

went to a happy hour last monday and met someone who lived in the same blue house in wisconsin that i did at the same time (1999-2000). then, he was friends with my upstairs neighbors for the next 4 years. thought he looked familiar.

saw the harry potter movie in a theater. it was great! - but if i had not read the books, i would have had NO idea what they were saying. invented words in a british accent? - yeah, right. then, saw the third harry movie on cable over thanksgiving. now only two backstory harry movies to see.

visited my family for 4 whole days. brought my bike, but never had a chance to get it out because i ended up working on the two nice-weather days. (see? work). saw best-friend-from-high-school for the 20 minutes it took me to drive her to a movie to meet her family (it was OK, because she had run out of things to tell me after that time period, and had nothing to ask me). hung out with my parents and their buddies (more fun than it sounds!).
drove back this morning - left at 5.15 and arrived at 8.45 - nearly 2x as long as usual - i really had no concept of "monday morning traffic" and what it would mean for driving through baltimore AND dc.

got a big white cyclamen! will get pictures up eventually.

discovered that my vehicle registration expires a month earlier than i thought. maybe i'll have a DMV adventure to report on later!
