the house where george live

i forgot to tell you about my trip to the white house. so, here goes: it blew. boring. got to see hardly anything. it was like a small, less-ornate Dolmabahce, except there wasn't even a guide, just guards in every room, and a pile of American tourists pushing each other down the path. there were georgeous flower arrangements in every room, though - that was probably my favorite part.

the other good part was the people i was with - 'good' as in 'hilarious'. i was with this group of two House interns and one staffer. the staffer knew nothing but pretended to know everything - and kept saying "the Really cool tour is the one of the East Wing, where the Oval Office is and everything. But you have to Know somebody who works at the White House, like I do, to get a tour of the East Wing." As she was saying this, we were of course walking into the East end of the building, which is of course the East Wing, and as everyone knows the Oval Office is in the West Wing, which is why they named a goddamned tv show after it. and of the two interns, one hardly spoke, and the other said approximately 8 times that she was a student at Wellesley. when i finally caved and asked what she studied, she said "pre-law, with a double-major in political science and art, and an unofficial minor in french - unofficial because at Wellesley you can't have both a double major and a minor, so, yes, I am doing way too much." woooie!
