fi'-dolla ho

tuesday at k's going-away party, this fat drunk dude made some joke about if he had 5 dollars, he'd patronize me. he kept trying to explain that it was a hilarious play on words with 'pahtronize' and 'paytronize' (remember, he was drunk), and that he wasn't actually calling me a fi'-dolla ho. it was stupid at the time, but it got me thinking: i really am easily bought. all it took for me to roll over and register for a CVS card (name, address, phone number) was a five dollar members-only discount on laundry detergent. and all it took for me to get a card at the coffeeshop (name, address, phone, credit card) was a promise of $4 for every ten visits (that's a free coffee for every five bought!). the garden center didn't even have to struggle - i wanted the coupons and gave them all the info they wanted. and the grocery store? they just had to put treats like veggie sausages on sale (sale is still higher than wisconsin normal prices). so much for principles - i like money in my pocket.
